MatPrat “Simply Explained with Johannes”
MatStart is an initiative to promote healthy cooking and sustainable consumption among children and young people. They needed to communicate complex topics, such as food waste and sustainable food production, in an engaging way to their target audience. Children and young people often show great interest in the environment and climate, but have a distant relationship with food production.
We developed the concept “Easily explained with Johannes”, a series of films where complex topics were explained in a playful and engaging way, by Johannes Slettedal from NRK Super. The films were short and easily digestible, with a combination of live action and animation to hold the attention of the target audience. The films were published on various social media, including YouTube and Matopedia, a digital solution used by as many as 650 primary schools in the subject Food and Health.
The graphic expression was exaggerated, playful and captivating, supported with corresponding music and sound design, to help draw the viewer through a complex theme. Johannes was the driver in the films and this freed up the space for almost unlimited creativity in everything that happened around.
